Court grants final approval to wage deal for car dealership employees

February 19, 2021 – Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Edward G. Weil today granted final approval of a class action settlement reached by the firm on behalf of approximately 160 former workers of Winter Honda and Winter Chevrolet in Pittsburg, California. No class members objected to the settlement. In his final approval order, Judge Weil found the settlement to be “fair, reasonable, and adequate,” and approved the firm’s requested attorney fees and service award for the named plaintiff, finding that the “relatively high” service award was justified “by the relatively high individual recovery for the class members,” which averaged around $3,000. Payment to the workers is expected shortly. Firm partners Nicholas A. Carlin and Brian S. Conlon served as Class Counsel for the workers.
