The American Bar Association (ABA) was established in 1878 with a dedication to establishing the legal and ethical principles for the nation. Currently, it operates as a membership organization, firmly devoted to its mission of upholding freedom and seeking justice. Various attorneys at Phillips, Erlewine, Given & Carlin have been involved in the ABA’s litigation and intellectual property sections, and managing partner David Given has served as the chairman of the Association’s Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries.
American Board of Trial Advocates
The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) is an organization comprising top lawyers and judges in the U.S., representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases. Every attorney member of ABOTA has earned great distinction at trial. In 1993, the ABOTA Foundation was created to educate the public about the civil justice system's history and significance. ABOTA also focuses on enhancing legal professionalism, integrity, honor, and courtesy. Firm partner, Nick Carlin was inducted into the organization in 2021.

The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF), founded in 1872 as a nonprofit for attorneys and legal professionals, has over 7,500 members, including individuals, law firms, and law schools. Firm partner Nicholas Carlin is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California which is dedicated to advocating for the rights of 39 million Californians.
